About our Farm

Rain Forest's sister company, Aquacorporacion Internacional, owns and operates a tilapia farm in Costa Rica.  Rain Forest also sources fresh and frozen product from Tilapia producers in Ecuador and other countries.

Our Costa Rican Farm:

Rain Forest Aquaculture's sister company has developed over 400 acres of ponds and infrastructure at its Caņas, Costa Rica site. Our unique farm utilizes the pure, crystal-clear rain water from the cloud forests of Costa Rica. This water flows by gravity through our farm at such a rate that our growing ponds totally exchange their water every twenty minutes. This water supply, coupled with Costa Rica's perfect tropical climate, makes our Rain Forest site ideal for growing Tilapia. We have developed this site over the past 10 years to include broodstock ponds, spawning ponds, juvenile ponds, intensive growout ponds, semi-intensive growout ponds and a fishmeal plant.

Production at our Costa Rican site together with the production of our partners is approximately 13,000 metric tons or more that 28 million live weight lbs. annually. Fish are harvested and processed six days a week, flown to Miami each evening, and are

distributed from there to customers by truck and air. Most of our customers receive their fish within thirty-six hours of being harvested.
